Live in the now so you don't miss your life

This newsletter was sparked by a quote I had read from Alan Watts.
It really hit me hard because in all the work and activities we do are we actually present or are we mindlessly chasing an unreachable goal.
The quote reads, “People sometimes fail to live because they are always preparing to live.”
So why focus on being present?
Kairos Is a Greek word which means time.
In a poetic sense it means the perfect or opportune moment in time.
Living now in the moment is the best way to ensure you don’t miss your Kairos, that perfectly timed moment where everything elegantly falls into place.
Don’t spend your time worrying about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry for itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans.
Don’t live in the past
Be careful that you’re not spending too much time in the past.
It’s easy to find yourself caught in the trap of reanalyzing past events
How could you have done things differently?
Since you can’t change the past - there is only one way to view it.
Our past is meant to serve as a reference for decisions in the present.
Memories aren't meant to be constantly lived in.
We often create our own prisons.

Practices to help you stay present
Set reminders throughout the day to bring your attention back to the present moment
Take slow, deep breaths to calm your mind
Be mindful and focus on your breath during everyday activities like eating, showering, or driving
Use your senses to take in your surroundings and notice small details around you
Practice active listening when engaging with others
Engage fully and with joy in tasks and activities
Take breaks from technology to dedicate time to being present
Practice mindful activities like meditation or journaling regularly to cultivate a present mindset over time and with consistent effort.
The here and now is all we have, and if we play it right it's all we'll need.
Until next week,
