"12 Rules for Life" and a Life of Purpose

This week’s letter highlights excerpts from 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson.
Let’s dive into it.
Perspective creates your environment
What you aim at determines what you see. - JP
If all we’re focusing on is negative possibilities that is all we will run into.
Likewise, if we focus on the possible positive outcomes it increases the chances that is what we will encounter.

What is your reason?
He whose life has a why can bear almost any how. - JP
Purpose isn’t meant to be easy
Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expedient. - JP
Our purpose in life is directly connected to responsibility and others.
It’s not meant to be easy, but it is fulfilling.

Take care of what takes care of you
Treat yourself like you are someone you are responsible for helping. - JP
While pursuing a life of purpose it can be easy to forget about yourself.
So many people write-off their health like it is always gonna be good.
Don’t forget that if you have a million dollars but will die tomorrow - you don’t care about the money you care about your health.

The best competitor is the person you were yesterday
Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.
You need to consider the future and think, “What might my life look like if I were caring for myself properly?” - JP

Learn from everyone
Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t. - JP
I love this quote by Bill Nye, “Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't.”
This makes everyone your teacher.
Even if it means you gotta dig a little deep to find out what that is ;)
